Wrap Up

May 9, 2007

Thought this was a very worthwhile experience and I learned alot.  Unfortunately due to time constraints didn’t get to explore everything as much as I would have liked.  I will definitely explore some things further as time permits.   Perhaps in future, these types of activities can be planned for non-peak periods… just a suggestion.  Thank you to Debbie and everyone who ran the catch up sessions.  I found these very helpful (guilt-free)…now back to year end.  Thanks

Browser Tools

Installed Firefox and installed WordPress.com Sidebar and Clipmarks 2.0.4.  add-ons.  Also added the Keyword(s) Anywhere Morris bookmarklet.  For some reason had a problem with Weatherbug but will try later as time permits.

Gaming

May 7, 2007

I’ve played some online games.  My favourite is still Sudoku.  I’m addicted to numbers.  Went to the gaming demonstrations but can’t say the fighting games are my cup of tea.  I am, however, learning the ins and outs of programming games from my son.  He balances his online gaming between creating games and playing them.  Does everyone know that this year the McMaster engineering department is offering a camp called ‘Gaming in a Virtual World’?

Social Networking

Created a Facebook account.  I’ve added a few friends but need to delve into this whole thing further.  Haven’t uploaded a photo yet.  Did some searching and found some people I haven’t talked to in a while.

Online Tools

Not alot of time to spend on each one.  Did a quick glance ofeach.  The ones I feel would be the most useful to me  were Google Docs & Spreadsheets…great way to share info.  Also, LibraryThing is very interesting.  We have a ton of books at home that may finally get organized!!
